Seasonal Fruit
You know what I love? The seasonality of fruit. The shifting and changing of what’s available – or at least what’s deliciously available. Over the last few months, I gorged on stone fruit. Peaches, plums, cherries, nectarines-it’s been pure joy. But now, I’m feeling ready to transition to amazing citrus and pears. Then in the spring, we have the “fruit season” that brings the strawberries and blueberries that we literally buy by the gallon. There’s something really special about this cycle of anticipation, feasting, and moving on to the next. It thrills me.
Dollywood
This week we went to Dollywood for the first time. It’s seriously a very charming amusement park. And apparently late August is the time to go; we didn’t stand in a single line. Can we talk about Dolly Parton for a second? She blows my mind. Who is this wonder woman and how exactly did she come to be? She is so unapologetically herself – doing what she wants, looking how she feels best, giving back to the world on her own terms. I am inspired by her and working to take a leaf out of her book. (Dollywood Pro Tip: bring spare underwear and socks – walking around a bit damp all day is a downer. And bring your own snacks; the cinnamon bread is not worth the t-shirt acclaim #ifyouknowyouknow).
Vegematic
Do you buy things on Instagram? If you don’t, are you tempted? I am tempted. All The Time. Back in the day of a TV with real channels, I bought all of the “As Seen On TV” items. Remember the guy who cut through the soda can and then sliced a tomato like a stick of butter?! So good. I thought I was past that phase, but instagram found me out. Ever heard the song “Vegematic” by Steve Goodman? I am pretty sure he wrote it about me.
Have you ever bought anything from an infomercial or instagram?
