Habits

I am in the process of creating a new habit. Every day when I wake up, I say ‘It’s gonna be a great day.’ I say it to my husband, my kids, whomever I am in contact with in the early morning. It’s new, but so far… loving it!!

Meditation Month

It’s meditation month did you know?! Historically meditation has been a thing similar to journaling for me. I see the benefit, I long for it, I envision a future where I engage in it regularly, but in the present, I don’t make it happen. However, this has been cahnging over the last several months, and a meditation practice is now emerging in my life. And wouldn’t you know it – everyone (and science) who said it would be significant was right! I have noticed a profound shift, particularly in my feelings of abundance – abundance of love, abundance of time, abundance of joy.

For me, it took finding the right resource that truly resonated to make it a regular practice. I am using mediations from a business school I recently completed, The Feminine Code. My partner Nick has found a lot of benefit from the Waking Up App (which offers a free trial for 30 days-if you are looking). I’ve become one of those people who will try to convince you to become a practitioner of meditation if you’re not already. It’s truly worth the time spent – I promise!

Dan Savage

Do you know Dan Savage? I didn’t, until he was interviewed on the Ezra Klein show in January. I have told most people I know about this fantastic interview titled, ‘Dan Savage on Polyamory, Chosen Family and Better Sex‘ but honestly, it bears repeating. I listened to it again recently on my way home from a VO conference, and I was again totally blown away by some of the simple yet mighty concepts Dan Savage chatted about. If you have time, take a listen. It’s not just educational and interesting, it’s quite entertaining as well.

At the end of the day, if I can say I had fun, it was a good day.
