Celebrating Joy and Inviting Creativity
Do you dance? Like, really let it loose-shake yourself silly, kick up your legs, and be free – kind of dance? Why not?
Whatever your reason – I promise you, it’s not good enough. Dancing is the only thing I know that fully connects my body, mind, heart, and soul in moments. It centers me in joy within moments. I don’t think it’s a me thing. I think it’s a dance thing.
Pleasure
This amazing woman has recently become my business coach and she teaches about the importance of pleasure. Pleasure. One more time for the people in the back, pleasure. Just the word ‘pleasure’ evokes so much in me; it feels a little bit forbidden, but ohh so desirable! So I am seeking it more and more – putting pleasure at the top of my to do list, always. When she faces a big work project with numerous deadlines, she surfs more, not less. I’m actively working on this approach. Well not the surfing bit – I lack the coordination and fear I’d drown.
Dancing to get through the Difficult
Posting on social media is not my favorite thing. In fact, I sometimes dread it. I worry about being ‘too casual’ for LinkedIn. I worry about being ‘too much,’ just in general. I worry no one gives a shit. And yet, I’ve committed to maintaining a presence on LinkedIn and Instagram to build and nourish relationships. So I have started dancing around it. Literally. I dance before I create a social post so I am in a good mood while creating it. Then, I dance to celebrate when I’m done. I’m building a connection in my brain and body between the good feelings of dancing and the act of posting on socials. Is that weird? Yes. Is it working? Also yes. Win.
